Clarification: Custom Instruments vs. Customizing an Instrument
|
When we say that we will not be taking orders for custom instruments for the time being what we mean is no orders for original, extensive engraving on the body or elaborate inlay on the fretboard &/or headstock. A custom instrument is one that has a completely unique and innovative design such as the Liberty guitar or the Aloha ukulele. Custom instruments can take up to 2 years from concept to finished product.
We are still "customizing" our instruments -- exchanging one neck for another, putting on a headstock overlay or changing the type of headstock overlay, engraving a name, initials or a date on the body, and so forth. When we customize we tend to use standard parts in unique ways. Customizing does not add substantial production time. |
